A couple of years ago I bought my dream car…a 2CV tin snail. I loved it. I named her Amelie after the film, and she got a brand new windscreen and hardwood and chrome steering wheel.

Then Covid hit and she was stuck in my atelier. I was then very ill last year and sadly I decided that along with my feathered friends,my poultry, Ameli had to go.  A friend came over to help start her as her petrol pump wasn’t working too well and I put her up for sale.

That day a Dutch 2CV enthusiast came over to see her. He loved her and bought her. As I waved her goodbye, I felt 💔 😔.

But sometimes fate steps in. Near our farmhouse, near Boussac, was a lovely but neglected house. Whenever we past, we would comment that the building needed a good owner to bring life back into it. And so that happened and Amelis new owner lived there!  Three guys and eleven French bull dogs welcomed me as I dropped off the rest of Amelies belongings…a new petrol cap, pedal covers, her manual and enamel French red, white and blue tyre valve covers.

The house was a delight, beautifully renovated and Amelie, now renamed Renée, shared a garage with another lighter green 2CV and an older classic car.  And that’s how I still see Amelie. The owners kindly send me photos and updates and honestly she has more fun, car meets, mountain climbs in the Alps and tours.

I couldn’t be happier. ♡
